Beverly McNeil, Essence of Nature Photography

Nature photography is my passion. My wish is to encourage people of all ages to get out and enjoy, appreciate and protect the beautiful and important inhabitants that we share this planet with. We are all connected.
When I was growing up I enjoyed camping and hiking in the high country in Colorado with my family. When I was 15 years of age my grandmother gave me my first camera, a Brownie Fiesta 127, and that summer while on a solo hike at Lake Tahoe I photographed my first bear.
As a young adult having three children, a husband and career in health care, I returned to solo hiking and began to photograph wildflowers and scenery. As my hikes became longer I gained a passion for learning all I could about the birds and mammals I would see. In year 2000 I invested in a tripod and a more professional camera for photographing wildlife. I took off from there and am a self taught photographer who has vowed to keep the images that I present as natural as I viewed them through my lens. I very rarely photograph captive animals and rarely use flash. For me it is a thrill and an honor to observe animals in their natural environment.
My personal motto is:
UNPLUG AND GO OUTSIDE!
